Welcome to Disaster

So our economy is melting down. And I gotta be honest, our government's efforts to "fix it" are absolutely laughable. The bailout bill literally amounted to throwing money at it, and since Congress finally got something right and voted it down, they're left to try and find other options. Of course, the bill's failure caused even further catastrophe, but if they had come up with a better option, we wouldn't be where we are. You can't hold us hostage, and then blame us when you shoot us.

Do you know what Obama is proposing now? He proposes we raise the bank deposits guaranteed by the FDIC from $100,000 to $250,000. Are you kidding? What does this help when the banks don't have the money? It may be a gesture towards FDR, but it's totally hollow. All of these efforts are just mimicry of the New Deal, with none of the actual substance of it.

When are the rich people going to realize that when they steal from us, they hurt themselves too? Nobody wins. The dollar is plummeting.

Is it really that hard to come to a solution? I've got one: INFRASTRUCTURAL CHANGE AND REGULATIONS NOW INSTEAD OF AFTER WE GIVE YOU 700 BILLION DOLLARS. Crack down on corporate crime. Everyone knows that this happened because any an all regulations have been removed, and nothing but greed has been running the system for years. That just doesn't work. Now that unrestrained capitalism has totally screwed us, we need plans that protect "Main Street" instead of just banks and corporations (although, of course, millions living on Main Street are employed by those banks and corporations). If (and when) there does have to be some money invested in fixing this, there need to be some guarantees that we get a return on the investment. Now, I have no idea how do to any of these things, or what the specifics would look like, but that's because I know nothing about the stock market. Surely, someone in Washington does. And surely, some of them have actually read about the New Deal, and surely, they know that this is the direction we need to be heading.

Everyone knows we need a plan that includes all these things. Why is no one in Washington suggesting them? Could it be because they are owned by the guys who have gotten us into this mess? Of course, some folks are suggesting that everyday people be protected, but they're not delivering.

We need to demand these things from our government. Write your Congressmen.
